Soy candles are all the rage these days and you can make them yourself right at home if you want to. You can actually learn how to make soy candles right at home and then give them out to your loved ones as gifts. You can mix and match ingredients sometimes to make things really interesting and come up with your own unique variations. There are a few easy steps you need to follow to make your own lovely soy candles. The container soy candles are best to get started with because they are the easiest type of soy candles to make. At least you will not have to worry so much about making a mess, when compared to regular paraffin wax candles these are a breeze. Also you do not have to worry about making such a mess with the soy candles because the materials are so easy to clean up. Try scrubbing spilled paraffin wax off the countertop and see how much fun that is. The first step is gathering all the necessary supplies. For a simple soy candle recipe you will need 1 pound of soy wax along with a mason jar in the color of your preference, 1 ounce of fragrance oil of your preference, wax dye and a cotton wick. You can pick and choose from the different fragrances, so you can use whatever smell you want. This way you can put your creativity and personality into each soy candle you make. Keep in mind that different fragrance oils have different purposes and for example lavender is great for using for relaxation purposes. Jasmine, lemon or sunflower would work better if you wanted a candle to be energizing and refreshing. Once you have all your supplies and are ready to get started, you want to heat up the wax and continue heating it until the wax has melted completely. You must wait until the wax has completely melted and then you add in the fragrance oil of your choice. Add this mixture together and then you want to pour it all into your mason jar. Wait until the wax has dried just a bit and then put the wick in the center. The wick must be kept straight and still for about twelve hours, until the wax has dried completely. A clothespin or pencil can help you with this.
