Especially if you love modern scented candles you are going to be a big gel candles enthusiast. If you want to make some lovely gel candles, there are only a few steps involved. There are a few basic supplies you will need to make gel candles but you will want to read through the list of supplies on any gel candles instructions to make sure you get everything you need. When it comes to the fragrances used for your candles you can pretty much choose any scent you want. You can shop online and buy at wholesale prices if you really want to cut costs. Always ensure that you are choosing the right materials because instead of using ingredients for soy candles for instance you have to make sure that you are using those that are specifically for gel candles. Remember that each essential oil fragrance has its own purpose and is used for a different effect. Different scents work differently for instance lavender works to promote calmness and relaxation. So once you have all the supplies you need you can get started. Once you are ready to get making your candle you want to put some glue in the bottom of your container and cut your wick to fit. Depending on the height of your container you may need your wick shorter and then you stick one end of the wick on the glue. Before the glue dries you want to put the wick in it and hold it up straight. Now you can get started on the gel and it is best to cut it up into smaller pieces as this will help it to melt faster. The smaller pieces you cut the easier it will be to melt. Put the pieces of gel into a pot and heat this over medium heat, stirring occasionally as it starts to melt and always ensure the temperature is just right because if it is too hot it can ruin the gel. Add the fragrance once the gel has melted just as you would making other types of candles and add in color as you like. After everything has melted nicely together you can pour the mixture into the container and be sure to keep the wick from getting wet as you do. Keep the wick up straight with a pencil or clothespin so you can light the candle properly once it is finished.
